Bring your best and authentic self in the present moment.
It’s SUCH a cliché. It is something we’ve rolled our eyes at when we’ve heard it. Same with all the jazz about “mindfulness” and “one day at a time” and the like. With jobs, and cell phones, and Tweets and rush hour traffic our brains are awash with the urgency of the day. We lack stillness, and we lack the time and space to really listen to what is going on inside of us. And then, we wake up the next day and do it all over again.
What if it could be different? What if we were either more mindful of the negative consequences of being preoccupied and missing the present moment, and wishing for another chance. Like Groundhog Day…
Or, blissfully unaware of what yesterday was, and living each day like the first? Like 50 first dates…
How would your life be different?
It would most certainly be different because of something external causing us to be different. But… change can come from within.
Remember the excitement of being a kid and waking up to realize it was the first day of summer? Or the tingle of eyes meeting someone else in that special way for the first time. Moments.
Each day can offer that newness. We just have allow ourselves to be reborn each day. A fresh start.
But… there are things that hold us back. Yes, there are the realities of world. Food, warmth, safety, human connection and many other things are not things that happen automatically, and should not be taken for granted. But most of what holds us back is within ourselves, as much as we would like to blame it on the world external to ourselves.
So, where to start?
At the beginning, of course. That is the nature of a journey.
Shall we begin?
